Carter Optimist

Carter Optimist is built in accordance with the rules as stated by the I.S.A.F. recognized International Optimist Dinghy Association (I.O.D.A.).
Those class rules make the International Optimist Dinghy one of the most restricted one-design sailing classes in the world! Due to small building margins and strict control of measurements and building practices by the I.O.D.A. only top brand materials and an extremely well organized production facility can be used for building the Optimist dinghy.

As a result of the intensive cooperation within our team and the many years experience in Optimist sailing, Carter Optimist dinghies are being build with great performance measurements which assure possibilities for the best sailing results.

Carter Optimist IOD’95 hull is made in two version:
RACER – hull in traditional HQ construction and finish
IMPRESSOR – hull in extremely sophisticated HQ construction and finish

In short - some points of performance and supply options, which are:

  1. The hull is made of the best, certified materials available on the market, applied strictly in accordance with the requirements of the class rules.
  2. The hull is made with bi-axial glass reinforcements on both side-boards and both, fore- and aft- transoms, to reach maximal stiffness and optimal stability resulting with highest speed.
  3. All structural bonds are made with the best adhesives, carefully selected from the most advanced ones available on the market. The appropriate choice is assuring perfect bonding structure while the properties of the bonds are improving sailing parameters of the boat itself.
  4. The hull is made to reach the lowest weight allowed by the class rules, followed by the optimally balanced distribution of weight.
  5. The maststep and mast are laser-aligned to assure perfect verticality of mast.
  6. The aft-gunwale-rail is made in “free-sliding" finish (ie. with no anti-skid surface), what makes it easier for the sailor to slide alongside the gunwale-rail for taking the optimal position (and avoiding damage to the clothing).
  7. Standard colours of the hull are:
    bottom-hull – white
    gunwale – white,
    midship frame – white
    cockpit is finished with light-grey topcoat with dark-grey anti-skid surfaces in the aft-cockpit as well as in the fore-cockpit.
  8. Optionally, to customize it, the hull may be finished with any other colour from the RAL-range as well as with in-moulded multi-colour layouts, including striping, water-line, etc.
  9. The impressive IMPRESSOR hull is made as above with additional features like:
    - transparent aft-transom
    - transparent fore-transom.
    - aft-half of gunwale and midship frame made in custom chosen colour from the RAL-range - the fore-cockpit anti-skid surface is neatly layed with a large OPTIMIST logo. Optionally that hull may be made with transparent areas on the side-boards and mast-thwart bulkhead, showing the see-through structure of the GRP.
  10. The boat is equipped in standard with top-class fittings and components supplied by OPTIPARTS / OPTIMAX, all of them specified above.
    Depending on the purpose of the boat, Carter Optimist is available in several standard delivery packages.
    In each of them, the hull is fitted with Harken carbon stand-up mainsheet block.
    IMPRESSOR in version PRO and PRO+ is equipped with PRO-racing mainsheet set with Harken blocks, including Harken ratchet block.
    IMPRESSOR is supplied without sail to let the sailor select and use the favoured one.
    Nevertheless, any individual requirement regarding specification of a unique boat or a serie of boats will be reconsidered and fulfilled, if possible at all.
  11. The boat is equipped in standard with Carter top performance OneDesign class foils in wet-sanded PRO-finish version.
  12. The hull is delivered fully measured by the official IODA measurer and with the filled-in IODA Measurement Book.
  13. Optionally, the hull and complete set of equipment thereto can be delivered packed in a very strong, shaped-to-size carton-box which assures perfect protection and enables easy handling and long-term storage.
  14. Carter Optimist is covered with 36-months manufacturers limited warranty on the GRP structure and 12-months limited warranty on its all fittings and other components
